Dog Stories: A Toy Poodle, Winnie the Poo-dle

At the beginning she was very tentative and I could see the worry in her little face, but I kept telling her softly that it was alright, and after a while I could feel the tension seeping out of her, as she was no longer stiff when I picked her up. She would stand on my lap, look straight at me (which was quite disconcerting) and very slowly and deliberately, paw by paw, walk up my chest. Of course, I supported her as she climbed.
